Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Tayler Wells Reports on 10.29.2015

Fall is here in Jefferson. As of last night, Shasta has a fresh coat of white which is hopefully a sign of things to come. With rain come more steelhead.
The Klamath is rewarding good anglers with opportunities at Wild steelhead. Good drifts in the right places with the right flies, or a confident swing will produce a take.

Later into the fall and early winter...

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Tayler Wells Reports on 10.21.2015

The Klamath is fishing well. The run is not what it was the last two years, but there are plenty of fish to go around.

The salmon are really dropping now, and with that the steelhead are not far behind the Redds. We are still having pretty good swinging.

Indian summer is still in effect up here, but we have gotten a few shots of rain in the last week.

Keep doing the rain dance and keep casting!

Lower Sacramento River

It’s been a fantastic summer on the mighty “Lower Sac”.  Our wild rainbow trout are in extremely good shape heading into the Fall and i’m sure they’re anticipating the Egg drop just as much as I am. Peak season is upon us, be sure not to miss it.

What’s on Tap?

If you haven’t booked your Fall fishing trip yet, it’s not too late. As many of my days are already booked, I take great pride in working with the best network of independent guides around. We still have plenty of guide dates available for the Fall season.

  • October: EGG BITE on the Lower Sac. Many folks consider this “prime time” for our big trout gorging on Salmon eggs. Steelhead are available in the Lower River as well.
  • November: Lower Sac egg drop is still happening. Klamath and Trinity Steelhead
  • December: Big trout time on the Lower Sac, Klamath and Trinity River Steelhead. We typically see the bigger fish of the season in December.

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Tayler Wells Reports on 9.24.2015

Fall has arrived here in the state of Jefferson, as have the steelhead in the klamath River. Daily more fish arrive, and we can’t wait to share the river and it’s inhabitants with eager anglers. Water temps this time of year make for perfect swinging conditions, a good portion of the time the dry line setup is the go to.

We are seeing more and more salmon, and as...

There are signs of Fall on the horizon with colored leaves and cool nights, things are changing up here in the State of Jefferson. The McCloud River remains very colored up with about 28 inches of visibility, however the fish have been eating and looking good. We’ve had some epic battles with brutes and some wonderful fish to hand. Though there is very little dry...

March has arrived here in Northern California/Southern Oregon and we are seeing the continuation of great steelhead fishing and the uptick in trout fishing on the Lower and Upper Sacramento Rivers.
