Striper fishing is really good in the West Delta if you are lucky and   pick a day that is wind friendly.   Largemouth and Smallmouth fishing is rated very good.  You can catch them deep, shallow and on the surface. The wind should start to lay down as we get into September.  Hopefully we will get some overcast laced with some early precipitation.

Good sized Stripers are starting to show in the West Delta.  Largemouth and Smallmouth fishing is still rated good.  Some good fishing to be found in San Francisco Bay for Stripers . 

Smallmouth fishing will continue to be hot thru September.  It is very visual as most of the bites are surface and a great experience for a youngster or son or daughter to catch their very first fish on a fly.

Children seem to really like it because it is non stop action.  It’s a great opportunity to pass on your passion for fly fishing to another.

Good fishing for Smallies and Largemouth Bass on Delta waters.  Some Good Striper fishing available at San Luis Resevoir and the Lower Sacramento River.  Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass are willing to take surface baits.  Try deer hair poppers and crawfish patterns for going subsurface.

Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass are the two best bets in the Delta. San Luis Resevoir is kicking out some nice Stripers and so is the Lower Sacramento River from Knights Landing to Hamilton City.

Top water fishing for Large Mouth Bass is finally in full swing.  Good numbers with many blow ups are possible. We have been catching them on deer hair
divers and poppers. I think you can catch them easily on your favorite offering. Stripers are still around in pretty good numbers in the central and  West Delta.

Delta Stripers can be good if you fish on a low wind day where you can access the whole Delta. Otherwise it can be tough fishing. Stripers are a little harder to locate but still some big fish in the system.  Small Mouth fishing is very good and you can easily catch good numbers of fish. Largemouth Bass are starting to hit topwater, and the Delta is continually clearing and returning to it’s normal color.

Fishing remains constant on the Delta.  Their are fish scattered throughout the system.  Bass fishing will improve as the water warms.  The water continues to clear on the San Joaquin and Sacramento.
