Like much of the PNW region, I would say this year we have seen fewer small fish than is typical, especially on the Klamath, though we have made up for it in strides with very quality, larger fish.

High pressure this last week so we had some balmy, beautiful days. We saw some great fishing on the Rogue as a result. Some real tanks hooked too. But the real story is that we finally found fish on the Klamath! After a few sparse weeks, I hope this is the start of the real season. Generally, the Klamath is my best November and December venue before chasing...

From the Russian to the Smith there are only a few weeks left for coastal steelhead fishing. The rivers are perfect and anglers are having success out there.

With a free day, a buddy and took off for the So. Fork of the Eel River in the early hours of the morning. We started our fishing in Benbow behind the inn. Right off the bat I hooked a nice fish that had me into my backing twice before she came unbuttoned. The rest of the day was bright and sunny without another bump. Recent rains will likely pull more fish in while simultaneously blowing out the rivers.

January for us is a special month.  Its time for us to get our fish on. We have been running all around the State of Jefferson and beyond, sleeping on the side of rivers, in the truck and even the luxury of the well needed dry warm hotel room.  Can’t tell you how much fun its been.  Not all play though, were still doing our guide trips and if you want to get out and get some fishing in for yourself feel free to hit us up. Just wrapping up what has been an epic steelhead season on the Klamath, Rogue, Trinity and coastal rivers. There is certainly still some fishing to be had for these special brutes. Russian River has been fishing ok. Most of California has slowed from slow to snails pace. Watch the weather I suspect there are some late fish looking to come in.

I like the Garcia and Gualala for this weekend! So. Fork of the Eel should be coming into shape beautifully! I’ve heard of good fishing on the Smith River the past few days.

They opened the mouth of the Russian on Tuesday and we have heard reports on fish moving through.
