Like much of the PNW region, I would say this year we have seen fewer small fish than is typical, especially on the Klamath, though we have made up for it in strides with very quality, larger fish.
This week a few days on the Klamath produced a few fish down in the canyon, though it was not quite the fishing we are used to down there this time of year. However the upper river is producing great fishing which will hold through the winter and early spring. The way this year has been shaping up, I will most likely be spending as much time as I can with my clients on the southern Oregon coast! This big rain I expect will bring in the first real wave of fresh chrome and have a list of folks to call when I find them!
I also had a great day on the Rogue teaching some folks new to spey casting and the swung fly. They were blown away just how much goes into understanding and actually fishing your swung fly! Great day with great people.
