We were up on the Klamath River this past weekend and there are a lot of fish stacked up by the dam. Can’t wait for those to go dams to go away! They are keyed in on eggs pretty heavily there should be some good pushes of fish coming in the with these rains. We will be up there next week trying to find some bright fish.

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

John Rickard at Wild Waters Reports on 11.9.2017

This is the last week of fishing on our beloved McCloud River and my last report till she reopens next spring. The recent storms and rain are putting a tad bit of color in her as well as rising flows and a lot of leaves. This week I chose flies that would stand out in these conditions and found more success on those big bows and browns that have been...

Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

AC Fly Fishing reports on 11.9.2017

Last week was pretty exceptional all around. The Lower Sac gave us some ridiculously good days. The boys I had on Saturday lost count of how many doubles they had.. The BWO hatches have been ginormous.. and the XL trout have been coming out from hiding to take part in the feast. I spent a day guiding both the Klamath and Trinity last week also and had some good...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt “Gilligan” Koles Reports on 11.8.2017

Went from fall into feeling like winter here on the Truckee River.

Mostly wind here in the Hirsch the last few days, little rain, and cold temps. I think the summit got about a foot of snow. If we get any significant snows before Thanksgiving, we’re doing good. I was hoping the river would come up a bit and kinda mix things up, but the she’s still about the...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson Reports on 11.9.2017

November…… and just a trace of snow in the mountains so far. Living in the shadow of a ski area, you are constantly reminded of the importance of snow and how it drives the winter economy. We always cross our fingers for a good storm system before Thanksgiving as it is the first big holiday of the year. Snow brings tourists and our guests buy lift tickets, rent...

Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci Reports on 11.9.2017

Fishing was tough for a couple of days last week but has rebounded this week.  Water temps have dropped into the high 50’s and the fish are inhaling the four inch Clousers.  Also the weather has cooperated with light winds and overcast days.  Dress warm because it can be chilly at this time of year.  I really like my Simm’s Extreme Weather jacket and Simms...

Trinity River Fly Fishing Report

Aaron VanSchyndel Reports on 11.9.2017

Tyler, our friend Dan, and myself hit the Trinity last weekend to chase a little fall chrome. We drove up from SF Friday night, with the plan to float the river in small boats and swing flies all weekend. These one-man rafts are a great way to get between productive water.

Saturday we floated about 8 miles of river near Hayden Flat. The weather was perfect...

San Francisco Bay Fly Fishing Report

Capt Greg Holland Reports on 11.9.2017

Bay fishing continous to satisfy beyond expectations. Just when you think the push to the Delta has reduced numbers, the following day we touch over 100 fish! A dropping barometer the last few days has brought cloudy conditions and the fishing has been fantastic. Who knows how long this bite will continue but I’ll be on Bay until I believe its time to follow...

Putah Creek Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romney Reports on 11/9/2017

We are running out time to get some fishing done on the Creek.  The voluntary redd closure starts December 1st.  We may even call it early this year if it seems the fish start spawning early.

So, how’s the fishing? Its great! One of the best fall seasons I can remember. Our numbers of fish per outing has been great. We’ve been getting a ton of good numbers of...
