Continue readingNot to much to report on, Ive been spending most of my time in the redwoods running my wilderness survival programs than on the beach fishing. The kayak/stand up paddle/ surfboard fishing has been quite good close to shore… limits of rockfish and lingcod being caught in the kelp beds found right off of some of our favorite Santa Cruz surf spots. The stripers are in if you know where to find them, throw size 2/0-4 anchovy patterns on intermediate shooting heads as far as you can, they can be found close to shore but your likely to get skunked more than not if you cant get your fly 60 feet or more from the beach. If you want to go to the dark side a big white and red plug will get the job done. Ive been...

For that reason I will be focusing my efforts on the Santa Cruz & Monterey county beaches for most of...

If you would like to spend more time on the water and less time driving to far away rivers…come learn how to fish in the pacific surf zone! For information on fishing the surf visit my website at www.fis...
Continue readingNot much has changed here in the surf, fishing has been challenging most days but there are still fish to be caught. I expect the conditions
to get better as we transition into spring! If you’d like to fish with
me check out my website - www.fishtherip.net - weekends are filling up fast!
Jack Harrison, Fish The Rip
Surfs been good for surfing but not for fishing, waves have been consistently large- keeping me on my surfboard and out of my waders. Spring is coming and the calm fishable days are on their way!
Jack Harrison, Fish The Rip
Red Tail surfperch, barred surfperch, Walleye and the occasional schoolie striper have been on my catch list of late. The swell has been too big to fish most days, the long-range forecast is looking grim- showing 8-10ft surf on our local beaches for the rest of the month. The fish are there, the structure is great (and improving with every swell). Fishing the surf with...
