The dry fly fishing on the Yuba in 2018 has been the best i’ve ever seen.  Sure the fish are smaller than normal but the action is incredible.  The average size fish has increased lately to about 12-13 inches.  We’ve hooked, landed, and lost a few better ones too.

Current conditions on the Lower Yuba River have the flows back down to 1,070 cubes, and the water has some color to it with about 3 feet of visibility to it. Yuba Dry Fly Game

It has been a pretty incredible start to the year on the Lower Yuba.  This has been the best winter dry fly fishing I have ever seen when it comes to the action.  I think a lot has to do with the weather we had all December.  The warm days produced great hatches of the BWOs.   The fish responded well.

Flows are pumping at 7k for the yuba and 9k for the American, but the shad are in. Reports of big females and small males in the river.  I heard early this week 2 guys caught  50 shad in a half day on the yuba and folks getting em on the American in double digits.
