Lower Sacramento River Fly Fishing Report

Lower Sacramento RiverAug 11, 20161 min read

Hogan Brown Reports on 8.11.2016

Lower Sacramento Striper Fishing - Fishing has been fair. There are a ton of little fish in the feeding spots so anglers have to fish through the littler fish to get to the bigger ones. That said we have run into some spots with only bigger 5-10lb fish and even seen a few monster follow a fish to the boat that got beat to the fly. Salmon fishing is non existent so the bigger fish are not getting pushed to the banks like they usually do this time of year by salmon and salmon anglers so the chances of sight fishing to large fish is not what it usually is. We are still fishing heavy sink lines in water from in water around 4-14 feet deep. Fishing should remain good and get better over the next month for the larger fish as salmon and salmon anglers move in.
