Rick Mazaira, Yosemite Outfitters

Finally some welcomed rain, with the abnormal warm spell, we have seen some early hatches BWO and strong Caddis, which will continue through April. Fishing in the west slope this time of year is technical, and challenging, with water releases up to 800 cfs for the salmon push in the Tuolumne river, & more in the Stanislaus river. High water lends itself to drifting the rivers and looking for BWO and Caddis hatches during the day. With recent rainstorms, the Merced should be shaping up and ready to go west of the western boundary of Yosemite. Looking forward to opening day!
