Solid fishing all up and down the Truckee River.
Good flows just about everywhere on the river. Big still below Boca and down into Reno. Like, you may have a hard time wading at these flows. Perfect above Boca and towards Tahoe City.
Couple things first... You are not seeing Green Drakes yet. You are seeing March Browns. You'll see Drakes right around Fathers Day.
Second... You will probably not get any dry fly fishing in. Unless you get lucky and the man from above makes it rain mid-day, you will be nymphing. That's the first thing people from out of town ask. Learn to love the nymph rig on the Truckee River. Go fish the N Fork of the Yuba, or some shit like that if you wanna fish dries all day.
Would you eat a crayfish, or a tiny ass dry fly way up on the surface?
Of course when the Green Drakes come out, you can get them on top in the sun. That's for a few days only every year. It's epic if it rains. You'll have died and gone to Heaven.
For now, yeah, fish the nymph. Euro, dry dropper, bobber. That is the key. The whole river is kinda on fire. The fishing is very good. Your nymphs hardly matter. Anything with a bead on it, and a good drift.
Let's get the Euro Clinic next Saturday filled up!
