McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

McCloud RiverAug 3, 20181 min read

John Rickard reports on 8.2.18

The McCloud River has been interesting as of late. The river is starting to see a little glacial silt from Mud Creek. There have been few hatches and very little bug life. The weather has been hot and smokey.

The poison oak and black berry bushes are in full growth, the rattlesnakes and hornets are buzzing, its summertime in the canyon.

Luckily that means big brown trout for those willing to brave the conditions. Standard fishing tactics are a bit slow right now but casting outside the box can produce the fish of your dreams.
