Lower Sacramento River Fly Fishing Report

Arrow Thin Left Icon

Hogan Brown Reports on 8.18.2016

Lower Sac Striper fishing has been good up until the last few days as we are in the middle of a full moon. Fishing during the full moon tapers off a bit but still plenty of fish around just seem to be a bit tougher bite for a few days usually. Most fish are coming on type 5 lines with unweighted flies fished a bit slower. Fish will eat flies on the fast sink lines but moving the fly a bit slower seems to be the ticket to getting the bigger fish. Best flies have been natural colored flies in olive, tan, gray, and white combinations. Fishing should remain good through the end of October. If you are looking to get out striper fishing I am already taking bookings for 2017. Get on the books early if you missed out this year.
