Spent Sunday on the lower portion of the Fall River and despite having some decent fishing for a few hours, the smoke from the surrounding fires was nearly unbearable at times. Day-to-day conditions may change due to winds, fire containment, etc. So if you are in the area, you will have to hope for the best and make decisions on fishing for yourself.
Road closures were in effect on hwy 44 and 89 and through Burney, etc… so getting to Fall River was more challenging, but not impossible, over the weekend. I drove home to Redding from Fall River Mills on McArthur Rd through Dana and out to 89 north (north of 89/299 road closure) then over to McCloud and down I-5. It added an hour to my normal commute.
