Madison River Fly Fishing Report

Aug 7, 20141 min read

Nick Peterson, NorthShore of the Madison

The Madison has been on fire the last couple of days.  We’ve had unusual cloud coverage and rain for this time of year where there is no wind or lighting associated with these cells allowing for the fish bite to be really, really good.  We are at the tail end of the Nocturnal Stonefly hatch which has allowed for great dry fly fishing in the morning.  Around lunch time to afternoon the streamer bite has produced multiple 20" plus fish up and down the river.   With the cooler last few days and early morning lows the river has maintained a great fishing temperature allowing all of us to land nice fish.  Stay tuned!
