Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report

Deschutes RiverDec 14, 20171 min read

Cory Godell Reports on 12.14.17

It’s late, but the season isn’t over yet. There are still plenty of steelhead around and ready to be caught. Water temps are cold, so if you prefer swinging flies for steelhead you will definitely want to use sink tips. Getting down is the name of the game, this time of year

If you prefer trout that’s a great option. The trout fishing is still amazingly good. Some days we are still getting fare mayfly hatches. If the bugs do make an appearance, its during the hottest part of the day which is usually between one and two in the afternoon. Before and after the hatch the best plan of attack is nymphing or some sort of dry dropper combo.
Don’t forget a lot of the river closes at the end of the year, so get out there before it’s to late.
Happy Holidays
