Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Truckee RiverFeb 9, 20171 min read

Matt “Gilligan” Koles Reports on 2.9.2017

The Truckee River has hit flood stage once again this year.

4th time since December.

This is getting a little ridiculous.

Hard to imagine after the long drought. It really hasn’t stopped raining or snowing all winter.

Over 4,000 cfs in Hirschdale is flood stage. Not major, but pumping. 5,000 k last night. Hopefully we can get some colder temps and get the rain to turn over to snow. The river should drop as fast as it came up if that happens. So for now, not much to report. Good news, the lower elevation snow is melting and there will a lot more place to access once the water comes down. So she should come down and the fishing will be good when she does. It’s looking like next week at this point.

It’s safe to say we will have water this summer in the Truckee River.
