Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Oct 9, 20141 min read

Matt Heron, Matt Heron Fly Fishing

he Truckee River keeps throwing down great numbers of fish this fall. Our water temps are finally perfect and it’s showing with the amount of bugs we’re seeing. All of our trips have been downstream of DT Truckee, and even more so below the Boca outlet. Both Donner Creek and the Little Truckee are pumping some much needed water to keep the main river flowing.
October dry fly fishing is finally here and we're getting most of our fish on the normal fall patterns, BWO’s, Mahogany mays, midges and streamers. Although we haven’t seen many yet, using a October caddis as an attractor isn’t a bad idea.
Although we’ll be traveling to fish Silver Creek and chase some BC steel, our guides have several openings during what's shaping up to be the best month of the year to be on the water. You won’t want to miss out!

Reach out to us anytime and we’ll be sure to give you an unforgettable fall experience on the Truckee and surrounding waters.
