LCO Staff Reports on November 25th, 2025
Our own intrepid angler Augustus Kennedy III spent most of the last week on the Trinity River, flogging the water from sun up to sunset each day. Here's what he has to say:
It's been an awesome fall season on the Trinity this year with a large number of fish moving through the system. From the boats, to the walk and wade guys, the swingers, to the bobber doggers, everyone's been getting into quality fish!
Right now, the river is flowing at 463cfs at Junction City, but keep an eye on the flows, the Trinity River Restoration Program is planning on increasing flows to over 6500cfs (unfishable) if a major storm moves through the area between January 15th and February 15th.
For the bobber guys, fish your Rubberlegs, Duracells, Psycho Princes, and Copper Johns. Salmon are still in the system so throwing an egg or bead when you see salmon will still get you strike. For the swing guys, the river is low and clear, so keeping it small, and natural is the key, and the same thing goes if you see salmon, an egg sucking leech might just get you a grab or two.
The biggest thing right now is to move, and move a lot, as the river is crowded, especially between Lewiston and Junction City. Cover water and if someone is in a run you want to fish, just keep moving. There's a ton of road access on the river. Go get it!After an epic summer and fall season, we can't wait to see what winter brings!
