The Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Lower Sacramento RiverSep 6, 20181 min read

Ryan Johnston reports on 9.6.18

The Lower Sac below Red Bluff has been really fun the last couple of weeks. It is the time of year where we start focusing our efforts on the lowest sections of the Lower Sac looking for trout, steelhead, stripers, and bass. The trout fishing down here has been really good as of late. Add in some nice stripers swimming around and the first wave of steelhead makes for great times. If you are looking to get out and do this kind of fishing then my dates are extremely limited.

If you are planning ahead and want to get in on the egg bite this fall then I still have a few weekend dates available. The egg bite is by far the most popular time of year so whether you want to go target trout on the Lower Sac or steelhead on the Feather then there are lots of fish to be had. Don’t wait to much longer as all of the good guides will be completely booked. My egg bite openings are below:

Sept 26-27

Oct 13, 20, 27

Nov 20, 28-30

Tight Lines,

Ryan Johnston
