Lost Coast Outfitters reports on 3.16.17

The surf and the Bay are heating up for stripers! The warm and dry weather is clearing up the water and the bait is getting scared. Schoolie stripers are appearing in the bays and points in Marin and East Bay and we’ve heard good reports from Pacifica on the beach side.
Things will only get better from here on out. A couple storms are predicted to slide through next week but, as long as it’s not January atmospheric river style, conditions should continue to improve in the coming weeks, with bigger fish showing up too.
Surf perch are always an option in the surf too, so if you go bring the fast sinking shooting head for those buggers and just an intermediate for the stripers. Stripers in the Bay general only require an intermediate too. Clousers, clousers, clousers. Pack chartreuse over white, olive over white, blue over white or darker colors for off color water. Practice your double haul. The further you can throw, the more fish mouths available to your fly.
