Rogue River Report
December brought a lot of rain (and even snow) to the valley, which created narrow windows of opportunity to fish the Rogue River. Flows around Shady Cove pushed above 20,000 cfs for a couple of days and storms continued to cycle through the area ultimately breaking the December record for snowfall at Crater Lake. With the headwaters of the Rogue just off the north rim of the lake, we’re in for a good water year.
This week the flows dropped in above Shady Cove so Rachel and I headed out for a morning float. The water still carries some color but there are definitely fish around. The forecast through next Tuesday calls for a dry pattern so conditions will only improve in the days ahead.
