Northern California Fly Fishing Report

Fall RiverJul 21, 20161 min read

Leslie Ajari Reports on 7.21.2016

McCloud River:
The McCloud river has fished very well the past few days, with prolific caddis hatches in the evenings. Also, nymphing with dark lords and smaller stones and mayflies have been working very well.

Fall River:
The hex hatch is still happening! It has been an epic year for those big yellow mayflies. The fish are fat and strong and tuned into this hatch. The sunsets have also been to die for.

Hat Creek:
Lots of heads popping out in the early morning on Hat Creek for the Trico spinner fall. Long leader and technical casts, but it is worth it. Plenty of targets to cast at. Try the ol’ Hat creek skate.
