Lower Yuba Fly Fishing Report

Lower Yuba RiverMay 17, 20181 min read

Chuck Ragan reports on 5.17.18

Lower Yuba

Chuck Ragan here. Spring fishing is in full swing and if you’re having a hard time figuring out which fishery to hit, it’s for good reason.  The river are full of Striper and Shad have shown up.  The foothill, as well as valley lakes, have been churning out some excellent bass and even the Yuba River is offering some great opportunities.

PLEASE BEWARE of the takeout at Sycamore as well as many other new obstacles in the Lower Yuba above Marysville.  There have been multiple accidents on the water. Check cdec and proceed cautiously.  If taking out of Sycamore, know that you can no longer row into the soft water of the takeout due to a new downed tree directly down from the takeout. You must now hug river right, drop anchor and get out quickly to control your boat and drag it around the bar and into the soft water. Please be careful to avoid any further accidents.  Fish hard, stay focused, get home safe.
