Lower Sacramento Striper Report

Lower Sacramento RiverAug 4, 20161 min read

Ryan Johnston reports on 8/4/2016

The striper fishing continues to hold strong here on the Sacramento River. We are coming off of prime time but there are still a solid number of fish in the system. Expect good fishing to contine through the end of August. The best fishing lately has been from 8AM - 2PM and 7PM - Dark. So if you are heading out there try to take the afternoons off and avoid the major heat. The best flies have been your typical clousers in chart/white, grey/white, and olive/white. Right now we are landing about 20 stripers a day on our full day trips and the fish are ranging from 1-5lbs with shots at 7-10lb fish daily. Each of the last 3 weeks we have run into 20+lb fish. Nothing better than helping people land fish of their life times.

My current oppeings for striper season is August 15, 19, 22-25, 29, 31.

Thanks,
Ryan Johnston
