Ryan Johnston reports on 8.9.18
The striper fishing on the Sacramento River has been really solid the last few weeks. The numbers this last week started to fall off as is typical in August. We are probably seeing about 25% less fish being landed but it seems as though the quality is starting to ramp up.

Seems like we are starting to see more quality fish each day. The water temps are still on the cooler side with most days hovering in the low 60s. Once the flows decrease near Redding then we should see the water temps increase down here near Chico.

I think that is the only thing that is really going to dramatically change the water temp as we have temperate summer temperatures forecasted here for the next week. When those flows come down and water temps increase watch out for some awesome fishing after that. With the cooler water the mid day bite has been the best. No reason to get out there early as these fish aren’t ready to eat till about 11am. For anyone interested in giving the Sacramento River a try for stripers then I still have a handful of prime time dates open in August. Openings below:
August 9, 22, 24, 30, September 1, 4-5
