Hogan Brown fishing reports on 10.26.17
Lower Sacramento River Striper fishing is wrapping up as the days become shorter and shorter and the water temps drop down into the mid to high 50s. We are still catching fish but the window that they are active is getting a bit shorter and fish are concentrated so covering water is key. A few people are starting to ask about booking for next season. I will be releasing my striper season dates after the first of the year.
Lower Yuba River - Flows are still good and word is people are starting to catch some nicer fish both on nymphs and dries. Winter is my favorite season to fish the Yuba and Nov - Feb historiclly have caught some of the biggest fish of the year and had some of the biggest numbers days as well. Swinging flies in the winter is an option and there can even be come decent dry fly fishing if the conditions present themselves.
Lower Sacramento River Trout - Winter IS my favorite season to fish the Sac for trout as most of the guides have moved to the Trinity or Coast for steelhead and we catch some of the biggest rainbows of the season it seems and we usually have the river to ourselves. Great time to fish out of the drift or jet boat for trout.
