Lower Sac Stripers & Shad
Hogan Brown Reports on 4.28.2016
Things are picking up around here…Trout season opens which doesn’t really change much where I fish but spreads the crowds out on the water I do fish and guide. With more options there is less pressure on the tail waters and valley fisheries as people run for the hills so to say.
Lower Sac Shad - The shad are here and up through chico. Fishing has been good and should open up pretty wide with the warm weather coming in this weekend. I would imagine fishing is going to go off next week. Flows and there are plenty of wade options if you know where to look. Shad fishing should remain good through early June but may tapper off early his year as it is getting an early start.
Open evenings trips - $250 for two anglers. Include drinks, use of rod/reel, and flies

Striper fishing - has been spotty at best as the shad are a HUGE food source for the stripers and give them plenty of opportunity to eat. Striper fishing should get better towards the end of may first part of June. Striper fishing is booking over the prime time June-Oct so if anyone wants a date here is what is left…

Carp, Largemouth, and Smallmouth on the Lower Sac are picking up as well and this is a great time for a combo shad/bass trip!
