Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report

Deschutes RiverJun 16, 20171 min read

Cory Godell Reports on 6.14.2017

It’s time to put away the Stimulators and Chubby Chernobyls and dig out your Elk Hair Caddis and Parachute Adams. The Salmon Fly hatch is now gone for another year. The good news, is that with the big bugs gone so are the masses of the people who fish the Deschutes.

A lot of the trout are already making the move from the faster moving water to the slower water so they can feast on the caddis and mayflies that are already hatching. If you enjoy targeting trout sipping dries along the banks, under trees and in back eddies, now is the time for you to hit the Deschutes. Our caddis season will carry right on through July.

This time of season is as much hunting trout as it is fishing for them.
