Captain Bryce Tedford reports on March 18th, 2026
Happy end to winter & welcome to spring 2026
Just took a much needed month off for the holidays & to get the 2026 season in order. Just couldn’t stay off the water any longer so I started my guide season a few weeks ago. We have been greeted with great weather & the fishing is heating up.
Finding 2-5’ of water clarity in much of the Delta, but you have to hunt for clarity. Water temperatures have exploded to nearly 65 degrees in much of the Delta. There has been a fair bit of debris in the water, due to recent tides, so be careful out there. Fishing wise, I been averaging around 10-15 fish a day with a few quality fish up to 10lbs. A good number of these fish are in the 3-5lb range & a few are bigger!
It had felt like we were primarily catching “resident” fish, but we are starting to see schools of stripers show up for the spring spawn. Spring fishing is not rolling yet but should pick up in the coming weeks! In an effort to keep it fun, I have fished primarily in shallow water(2-6’) with type 3 lines & a Steve Adachi style rattle Clouser (Black/Chartreuse with purple cheeks-Joker has been good).
Winter fishing can be a very spotty time on the Delta, so I'm feeling fortunate to find the fish we are. That said, they are out there & on the right day you can get after it if you are willing to hunt!
