Coastal Fly Fishing Report
Lost Coast Outfitters reports on 3.30.17
For those needed one last buzz before the end of an all too short steelfish season, the upper South Fork Eel and the Gualala will be in shape tomorrow. You may want to blow off work, it’s going to be a long summer of not steelhead fishing.
The rest of us are reflecting on a season of blown out rivers and canceled trips, reminding ourselves that all the water this past winter was pretty good for the fish. After a couple of legit North Coast winters, we should reap the rewards in a few years after we plow through a couple more year classes of fish crushed by the drought.
If the thought of trout and stripers on a single hander makes your stomach turn (first of all relax, and pick up a four-weight, you don’t know what you’re missing) then think about the Trinity or Smith where steelhead season doesn’t end April one.
