California Delta Fly Fishing Report

DeltaAug 2, 20181 min read

Capt. Bryce Tedford reports on 8.2.18

Delta

With some kids on the boat newer to Fly Fishing, Topwater Smallmouth has been my primary. That said, Stripers are available if you are willing to work for them but they can be hit & miss this time of year in the Delta.

In addition to the Smallmouth & Stripers, I took a day to focus on Topwater Largemouth in the South Delta & had some success with large Poppers. Water temperatures are 72 degrees, August/September my focus is on Topwater Smallmouth/Largemouth, returning to Stripers come fall unless someone really wants to hunt/Target Stripers in the Summer months.
