California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Captain Bryce Tedford reports on February 13th, 2026

CA Delta Fishing Report:

Happy Winter 2026!

Just completed a much needed month off for the holidays & to get my 2026 season in order. Just couldn’t stay off the water any longer, so I snuck out for a personal day February 3rd. My day was greeted with cool foggy weather, 2-3’ of water clarity & 42-43 degree water temperatures. There was a ton of debris in the water due to recent tides/storms, add dense fog & it was slow boating most of the day. Fishing wise, I fished about 6-7 spots over 4hrs & managed 15 fish up to 15lbs. Also, a good number of those fish were 3-5lb range & a few went bigger. May have just picked the right day & tide, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish/fishing & had the Delta to myself. T

he day was likely one of my better February days in recent memory & it was great to start 2026 off with a bang! In an effort to keep it fun I fished exclusively in shallow water(2-6’) using type 3 lines & a Steve Adachi style Rattle Clouser (black/chartreuse with purple cheeks-“Joker”). Winter fishing can be a very spotty time of year on the Delta, so I felt fortunate to find the fish I did. That said, the fish are out there & on the right day an angler can get after it, if their willing to hunt!

Looking forward to a great year of fishing ahead, striper fishing in the Spring/Fall & topwater fishing for largemouth & smallmouth in the Summer months. The Delta is truly a special place we are fortunate to have in our “backyard”!
