Matt Gilligan Koles Reports on 9.14.2017
More like fall, less like summer on the Truckee River.

It really is crazy how quick the weather has turned. Scorching hot, now cold mornings and mild days. In fact it has rained almost every afternoon here in the Hirsch the last week and our heater has kicked on every morning in the house. Bring a warm jacket for anywhere you fish along the Truckee River in the mornings. High’s mid-week will be only in the 50’s.
So with the change in weather seems fish are trying to adjust too. I would fish all water types right now. They could be hanging in slower water early and faster water later in the day. You may see some fish eating dries, and more fish eating streamers, and just plain better fishing than the last month. I’m sure we will still have some hot Indian Summer type days, but for now, it’s really feeling like fall. Brown trout time.
I’ve been down in Nevada doing some guiding, but still mostly in Ca. The Nevada side ain’t fishing too bad. The water is still warm East through the Nature Conservancy, but should cool and fish better this week, and the upcoming weeks. Remember, they grow big down there.
Still some spots left for the October 7th, Tight Line Nymph Clinic. You can really up your nymph game with this clinic.
