Truckee River Fly Fishing Report
Matt “Gilligan” Koles Reports on 2.26.2018
More cold and snow on the Truckee River.
Ain’t much to report since last report.
This week looks to be the same as last week with the exception of a big storm by weeks end. So more cold and snow and ice in the guides type of winter fishing. That’s ok, we really need the snow.
If you plan on fishing think small midges, mayflies, worms and eggs. Fish the during the warmest time of the day, or fish the Nevada side where it’s usually a bit warmer. Streamer fishing can actually be good in the cold water. Look for water moving at a slow walking pace. Hopefully we can pile up some snow here in March. We’re still on pace with the 2 driest winters on record.
Remember, I have a streamer clinic on March 17th, spots are open.
