Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Way above average daytime highs here in the Lake Tahoe-Truckee-Reno area. Not to good for skiing, but good for fishing. Of course, if we expect to fish this summer on the Truckee River we will need some snow. The 10 day forecast is the same old thing, sunny blue bird days, record breaking high temps.

For now take advantage of what we have. We have sunny awesome days and water in the Truckee River. The fishing is very good for this time of year and you won’t freeze your ass off. Though the air feels warm the water is still cold. You will need to nymph up in the slower deeper water. Fish are spreading out a bit in the afternoons, but most fish, I’m still finding in the winter type water. You will see midges and baetis hatching mid-day, everyday. If you’re lucky you may see a few heads pop up. The whole river is good to go, both states.

I have no Pyramid Lake reports as I have been working on the river almost every day. I will get out there more next week again. Kinda of slow right now out there anyways, and the river is fishing very well. Remember, 2 spots left for our Pyramid clinic on the 31st.
