Trinity River Report

Arrow Thin Left Icon

Brian Clemens Reports on 8.27.2015

Fishing on the Trinity has been pretty darn good as of late, with the opportunity to hook into a good number of large summer run steelhead, a ton of half pounders as well as some browns and an occasional salmon. All fishing techniques can be used to target these fish, from throwing dries, to indicator fishing, but by far the most fun and rewarding is swinging, with both scandi lines with skaters on top and skagit lines with sink tips subsurface. “The Tug Is The Drug” and no better time than now. The flows are a bit higher than normal, 1200cfs, to get the temps on the Klamath down, however, its bringing up a ton of fish. Wading can be challenging in these flows, so wade carefully and bring a wading staff. These fish haven’t seen much pressure, barely any crowds, and I think that will continue for the next few weeks. Even the salmon guides/guys are hard to come by on the river right now. You want a trifecta with both fish species and fishing techniques, the Trinity is the place to be right now as well as the next few months, its only gonna get better.
