Monterey Surf
Well, it’s that time of the season when the Stripers have pushed down from the coast and are invading our Monterey Bay beaches!!

There has been some steady reports of schoolie fish being caught at quite a few different beaches along with some more decent fish in the mix. If it was my call I’d give that perch gear a rest and pull out the bigger baits and flies. 4”-8” closures are the ticket in white/white, chartreuse/white, blue/white, yellow/white, yellow/orange/white are my favorite colors this time of year.

The swells have been very good to us these past few days and we’ll continue to ride this fun WNW into the weekend as an S swell filling in on top. There will be a significant swell rolling in next Monday so take advantage of the tolerable surf until thing gets too energized. Winds have been light in the AM and increase from the W by the evenings I will be joining Lost Coast Outfitters at Crissy Field in SF on Saturday for a Fly Fish the Surf Clinic, should be a great morning talking surf/bay fishing and getting some lines wet! Only a few spots are open so email me quickly if you would like to sign up. Hope everyone is out enjoying this beautiful weather, we’ll see you on the beach!
