Sacramento River Fly Fishing Report

The striper fishing on the Sac continues to produce well. Currently the best fishing has been in the morning and late afternoons with the cooler weather. The great part is there are still lots of fish in the system and if you have a decent caster in the boat one can expect to hook a bunch of fish each day. Most days we are hooking between 20-30 stripers with fish ranging in the 1-5lb class. Each day you are getting a legitimate shot at a double digit fish. This last week it really paid off to start playing around with the color of your flies. So when you are out there make sure not to just stick to your normal chart/white clouser. Yes the go to color still works but these fish seem like they are getting gun shy of the brighter colors with the bright and sunny conditions. Expect solid striper fishing to continue through the end of August.

Currently my openings are: Aug 15-16, 19, 22-25, 29, 31
