Owyhee fly fishing report
Cory Godell Fly Fishing Report
Just finished up my last day
of winter steelheading for another season. Decide to take the week off
from guiding and ODFW to hang with the kids over spring break and do a
little fishing myself. Starting next week we are switching gears and
heading for the Owyhee for some dry fly brown trout action. The dry fly
fishing has already started on the Owyhee. Off and on for the past
couple of weeks there has been some good Blue Wing Olive hatches. The
BWO’s have been showing up most days around 1 o'clock in the afternoon
and on overcast days the hatches have been at their best.
Our biggest, baddest and most popular
hatch on the Deschutes will be starting up in about six weeks. It’s the
almighty Salmon Fly hatch. The bugs are giant and the fish are hungry,
so don’t miss it out on this amazing time on the Deschutes.
If anyone is
interested, I have one last two or three day window open for the Salmon
Fly hatch. The available days are the last three days of May, which is
the tail end of Memorial weekend (Sunday-Tuesday). This should be a good
if not great time for the hatch this season due to the bigger winter we
are having. It will also be a good time to dodge a lot of the people
fishing during the holiday weekend since we can takeout on a Tuesday. If you have any questions or If you are interested let me know ASAP, It’s first come first serve.
