Monterey Surf Fly Fishing Report

Surf

The surf has continued to produce for those giving it the effort as we cruz into mid summer. Stripers have made most of the anglers take the long walk to get a bite as the fish have been on the move, but once you find them its on!

Monterey side has been hit or miss for the fly guys, but I have had some good reports closer to Aptos with less walking involved. That low light condition has really played a role in the bite as most of the fish I’ve seen are coming in during the early morning hours.

My good buddy Drew Pavlos @dpavlos sent me some photos the other day of his morning walk on the Monterey coast ( photos below), id say he had one heck of a good morning!  Weather is looking very nice for the upcoming weeks so get up early, brew some coffee, and tell the family to meet you with the beach umbrellas around noon.

There are stripers to be caught out there and now is a beautiful time to watch the sunrise over Monterey Bay. Hope everyone has a great week, we’ll see you on the beach!
