Stripers are still the talk of the town down here in the Monterey Bay! Perch continue to keep us busy, but there are whispers going on about halibut in the surf!

Now’s the time to get out there and give it a go because you never know what you will pull in! I’d stick to those 3-4 inch clousers in pink/white, blue/white, or the goto chartreuse/white.

I did say goodbye to the beach last week and hello to the Easter Sierras which I haven’t been back to since I was 10 years old. My dad used to take me camping and backpacking there and it’s where I truly fell in love with the sport of fly fishing, and A successful, quick trip to the mountains definitely reset me. I enjoy falling back to the 4/5wt finicky trout tactics after casting heavy shooting heads with big bulky clousers on the beach, a totally different game. Hope everyone has a great week, we’ll see you on the beach!
