Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report
Hogan Brown Reports on 11/26/2015
I have been spending the last week on the Lower Sac between Red Bluff
and Corning running swing trips out of the jet boat. With the low flows
there a lot of spots to get out and wade fish and swing flies on light
spey rods or switch rods. We have been getting a few half pounders,
occasional adult steelhead, and trout most days. While the cold weather
has made the fish a bit lethargic it is still nice to get out and wade
and swing flies. There are options all winter to swing flies on the Sac,
Lower Yuba, and Butte Creek for anglers that are into swung fly
fishing.
I have had good Nymph fishing on the Lower
Sac for trout and steelhead as well from Jellys down to Los Molinos.
December and January are two of my favorite months on the Lower Sac as
many of the guides move on over to the Trinity and the Coast and Lower
floats little to no pressure.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and get out and enjoy some fishing and time outdoors.
