Delta Fly Fishing Report
Bryce Tedford reports on 4.21.17
The fishing is holding steady out there with potential to be great each day if you find the right spot/fish! Weather looks to be settling down with sunny/partly cloudy skies for the next 7-10 days so that should help fishing as well! The striper bite has been good & we are seeing more fish in the 4-6# with the potential to hit a 10+lb fish any given day! Had a few very large fish that got away last week so the big girls are starting to show for the spawn & that makes things very exciting! Clarity in the main Delta has been greatly improving & we are seeing water temperatures around 60 degrees. My guests are primarily fishing chartreuse/white clouser minnow variations in the 4-6" range & rattle flies seem to help when the clarity is an issue. Most stripers caught the last few weeks were found in the central Delta in 5-15’ of water & 10’ is what I personally target the most. It’s a bit crowded out there as options in Nor Cal are limited right now, so be careful with all the boat traffic, be courteous to others & most of all have a good time out there!
