CA Delta Fishing Report:
Fall fishing is finally coming to the CA Delta! Forecasts show temperatures in the mid to high 70’s over the next 10 days. That’s a welcome forecast as it’s been low 90’s & higher over the past few weeks. With these cooler temperatures, I would expect the water to cool down & stripers to move into the system more consistently. Current water temperatures are low 70’s & that has the stripers spread around & fairly inconsistent over the last few weeks. That said, each day over the past week I was fortunate to see a few 10-15lb fish come to the boat. While the numbers have not been great, we have been seeing a few larger fish throughout the system. My hope is the coming forecast will cool the waters & bring more stripers into the system as a whole.
The highlight of my week was when I threw a 5/0 Pole Dancer topwater fly on a 10 wt & had a 16lb striper explode right at the boat! It was an epic explosion & fight I will not soon forget!
My personal 2026 guide season is all booked up at this time, but looking forward to finishing out the guide year strong! Best wishes to all & happy fishing as we enter this wonderful “fall time of year”. There are so many fishing opportunities all over the place & hope that everyone gets out there & enjoys them.
Cheers to all & to all a good fish!
