Feather River Fly Fishing Report

Feather RiverApr 7, 20161 min read

Ryan Johnston Reports on 4.5.2016

The Feather is fishing decently for the spring run of steelhead. There are fish spread throughout the entire system from Oroville to Gridley. There are quite a few half pounders with the random adult mixed in. Most of the fish are in the 14-18" category and then a couple times a day hitting a 20-23" fish. Seems like most days you can hook 12-15 fish which is pretty standard for that river.
The Lower Sac in Redding has been lights out. Seriously stupid fishing. Best fishing is in the morning till about 1PM. After that things tighten up to normal good fishing.

I haven’t been on the Yuba in a while with the flows but I do know that the flows are now getting into prime boat levels. Still hard for wading but perfect for the boat.
