Yosemite Area Fly Fishing Report

Stanislaus RiverMay 21, 20151 min read

Rick Mazaira, Yosemite Outfitters

Winter decided on a little encore for us! We have had a few welcomed storms that have dusted the higher elevations and have raised the flows a bit. Most of the higher elevation creeks and rivers that are away from the effected “Rim Fire” area will just turn a coffee color, and are fishable.

From South to North: The Merced is open at all stretches and I would feature the South Fork for as a great small fish and lots of fish section that is a great for an angler starting out. Dry fly fishing is great here. The Lower reaches of the Tuolumne are doing well. Cafruel above 5000 ft with flows and rain. Stanislaus- Fishing well though rafting is taking place.
