Lost Coast Outfitters reports on 5.4.17

The capturing continues to improve out in the salt. We’re hearing positive coastal reports from Monterey to Bolinas. Still mostly schoolie shakers but with a few larger fish showing up (especially for the gear guys). The last winter has completely remodeled our beaches, so the holes and troughs you fished last fall are likely not there anymore. However, places like Linda Mar in Pacifica and Stinson Beach remain more consistent in structure due to their geography. Go explore. There’s literally hundreds of miles of productive coastline. It’s the perfect cure for the combat fishing blues.
The Bay keeps kicking out schoolies, and the odd 5 pounder, though they are moving around quite a bit. They chase bait non-stop (kinda like if consuming all the pizza and beer you could put down was your only goal. Except the pizza and beer was constantly running away from you), so if there’s no bait in Corte Madera Creek it’s time to strap on your walking shoes and go find some greener pastures. Don’t just sit in one spot, go find them. But, know that as the tide changes they will show up or leave an area in a flash. Keep your eyes open.
It sure helps to have a boat to get around and we have a new guide in the Bay. Feather Dog Outfitters is currently running striper trips in the Bay. You should work a half day tomorrow… www.featherdogoutfitters.com
