Plumas County Fly Fishing Report

Jon Baiocchi reports on 6.14.18

I’m on the road guiding until the end of the month and I’m typing this report from my phone so I will keep it short. The weather has been sunny and warm, I’ve been waiting for this for quite some time - great camping and fishing weather I must say.

Frenchman Lake - fishing is fair, but there are good opportunities for sight fishing to rising fish taking callibaetis, the Adams parachute in a #14 has been really effective.
Lake Davis - Fishing is fair, damsels are out and it seems so far the hatch is on the light side. 9am to 12am is the best time to be on the water. Look for pods of rising fish and use stealth to get close for your presentations.

Creeks (Eastern Plumas county) - on fire! Perfect conditions with good hatches of caddis, yellow sally’s, little green stones, golden stones, and a few mayflies. Match the hatch or use attractor flies like mini stimis in yellow and orange.
It’s go time no matter the venue in the Northern Sierra!
