Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Lower Sacramento RiverMar 9, 20181 min read

AC Fly Fishing Reports on 3.8.2017

As we roll into March, the trout fishing on the Lower Sacramento River is starting to fire on all cylinders. The past few days of trout fishing have been as good as you will ever see out here. The hatches of BWOs, PMDs, and Spring Caddis have been spectacular. We’ve had more trout looking up to rise to the dry fly than I can remember in a long time. If there were ever a GET HERE NOW button to hit, it would have already been pushed - days ago. It’s amazing how the river has rebounded from months of astronomical flows last year. The bug population is as healthy (if not healthier) as I have ever seen and the trout are on full “feed mode”. We’re setting up for a spectacular year here on the “Trout Factory” that is the Lower Sac. Dry fly fishing on the Lower Sac has been as good and consistent as you might ever see. We can’t guarantee how long this might last but if conditions stay low and clear and the bugs continue to hatch in big numbers - these opportunities should continue to present themselves.

Also, a short video of Low Flow fishing for us in early spring on the Upper and Lower Sac. LINK HERE
