Lower Sac Striper Fly Fishing Report

Lower Sacramento RiverJun 7, 20181 min read

Capt. Hogan Brown reports on 6.6.18

Striper fishing on the Lower Sac is picking up. We have hooked fish up to ten pounds this week and plenty in the 3-4lb range. We have seen the bigger fish chasing shad which is always a fun sight to see them back flipping out of the water as a big striper chases them down.

Water temps are in the 60-67 degree range and moving with temps, light, and structure throughout the day is key. Most fish are coming on heavy sinking lines and typical striper flies though as the weeds come up we will start fishing more and more intermediate and lighter sinking lines.

The Valley rivers have some of if not the best striper fishing on the west coast and June -November is prime time.

My calendar still has some open dates and my 3 other captains have open dates as well. With over 100 miles of fishable water and the need to travel the river in a jet boat this is a great place to get away for a day.

Open dates.

June 12,

July 5, 6, 9, 14, 21, 23, 30

August 1, 2, 3, 9 , 11
